Ontario Opens OINP for two streams under Expression of Interest
Ontario recently opened an Expression of Interest (EOI) system for two of its Ontario Immigration Nominee Programs (OINP). Currently, OINP is using the EOI system to manage its applications for the following two streams:
Just like the Express Entry’s point system, Ontario’s EOI system is a point-based registration system. Introducing a points-based EOI selection process will enable the province to select candidates with specific skills or demographic characteristics that satisfy the needs of the regional labour market. Besides, this newly active system enables the province to simplify the selection process.
If you are planning to apply for immigration under one of these two streams , you can register your EOI profile now. Following the registration, your profile will be active in the selection pool and will be assigned a score based on your rewards . After analysing, Ontario will invite the candidates to submit their PNP application in the concerning stream.
Scoring Factors for EOI applications
Your EOI profile is awarded a score or points based upon your job offer’s skill level and Canadian work experience. Ontario will use the National Occupational Classification (NOC) to allocate points.
However, the OINP scoring system varies with stream. Besides skill level and work experience, it also considers wage, education, language proficiency, and your place of study and work. Additional points are also given by the province considering the need of the labor market.

Reasons to Introduce An EOI system
For a long time, Ontario was looking for a unique immigrant selection system for its PNPs besides the Express Entry system. As Ontario is the most sorted-after Canadian province among the immigrants, many people are competing with non-Express Entry candidates. In other words, the EOI system is launched to manage intake and to avoid insecurity related to stream openings and the current ‘first-come-first-served’ model”. Therefore, this program is a relief to a specific set of candidates wanting to settle in Ontario.
